Without considering its iconic Crazy Hours complication, it is almost impossible to mention Franck Muller. Crazy Hours was launched in 2003 and has now become the business card of Genthod Manufacture, which also produces best-sellers such as the Vanguard and Skafander series.
The design of the Crazy Hours complication may be the “Eureka” moment of the founder Franck Muller’s vacation in Mauritius. It has a time-jumping module that can align the hour hand at a seemingly random position every hour. Its basic automatic movement drives the minute hand in the traditional clockwise manner, so it reads the minutes in the usual way.
During one of our visits to the watch factory, we asked the watchmaker whether the numbers on the dial could be arranged in any way. Unfortunately, the answer is no. You see, the seemingly random numbers on the dial are actually a deliberate arrangement. This playful spirit has recently been reflected in the new Remember watch launched this year. Like the Crazy Hours watch, the Remember watch tells the time in an unconventional way, with all three hands (hours, minutes, and seconds) moving counterclockwise. Once again, it reaffirms the imaginative spirit of the watch factory and continues to make fun of collectors with its timekeeping methods.
