URWERK UR-101 T-Rex to rule your wrist
Get ready – the newest member of the T-Rex family has arrived and it’s sure to shock. With its bronze exterior, textured finish and commanding presence, this watch is more than just a watch that makes its presence felt, it demands interaction.
The newly redesigned UR-101 has been reinvented with an intricate guilloche pattern that covers not only the dial, but also the bezel, case sides and lugs. No longer confined to a protective crystal, these raw, tactile textures invite touch, delivering an experience as bold as its design. The UR-101 T-Rex is more than an evolution, it’s a statement, and at URWERK, we’re always up for the challenge.
The UR-101 is the third watch in the URWERK cheap collection to feature the T-Rex treatment. Its sleek, curved form is the perfect canvas for this reinvention, allowing the iconic guilloche pattern to flow seamlessly across the case. The sculpted lines start at the crown and extend in a subtle rise, culminating in a dramatic arc at the caseback. The result is a visually dynamic and textured aesthetic. he UR-101 combines exceptional ergonomics with sculptural artistry.
Designed to fit, crafted to perfection
With a diameter of 41 mm and a peak of 11.86 mm, the UR-101 T-Rex not only lives up to its size, it also feels great in the hand. The curvature of the case allows it to sit naturally on the wrist, nestling comfortably between the bones. Its asymmetric design is revealed when worn, with a slight tilt to position the display in the best position for the wearer. The crown puller is a nod to the original UR-101, enhancing its distinctive profile while ensuring ease of use.
The bronze case undergoes a meticulous finishing process: guilloché engraving, controlled oxidation and final polishing. Over time, the bronze develops a deeper patina, darkening but not green. The engraved indices, case sides and integrated lugs also change, adding character to the watch.
This signature engraving first appeared on the UR-105 T-Rex in 2016 and has since returned to the UR-100 T-Rex. “It’s a traditional guilloché technique,” says Frei. “But instead of limiting it to the dial, we applied it to the entire case. The result is a raw and natural feel – something you want to touch, to experience.” This finishing technique is often overlooked in high-complication watchmaking, but it is a key element in the URWERK philosophy. wholesale copy watches
A beating heart
The UR-101 T-Rex is a modern interpretation of one of URWERK’s earliest creations, returning to the brand’s roots while pushing the boundaries of its technical expertise. Time is displayed via two rotating satellites, a 180-degree layout and a solid snailed disc – an evolution of URWERK’s signature wandering hour complication.
Master watchmaker and URWERK co-founder Felix Baumgartner reflects on the brand’s origins: “From the beginning, our goal was to create a satellite display. The challenge was to make a rotating mechanism that is nearly 150 times heavier than a traditional watch hand move in perfect sync. With the help of my mentor Svend Andersen, we developed the Maltese Cross mechanism to achieve this. This is just the beginning of our journey.”
URWERK’s creations are the result of a dynamic interplay between artistic vision and swiss watch engineering. Drawing inspiration from history, science fiction and mechanical art, the brand’s timepieces reflect a fusion of the past and the future. From intricate engravings reminiscent of ancient craftsmanship to a cutting-edge satellite time display, the UR-101 T-Rex embodies this unique philosophy. URWERK doesn’t just measure time, it reshapes it, giving it form, texture and presence. With the UR-101 T-Rex, time doesn’t just tick, it roars.
