With green and black border.
One of the biggest surprises from Rolex at Watches & Wonders 2022 was the GMT-Master II ref. 126720VTNR – the first contemporary regular production Rolex with a left-handed or “destro” crown. To make it even more distinctive, it is equipped with the brand’s first green and black bezel.
initial thought
As a brand that has maintained an iconic style of watches for decades, Rolex has always strived for incremental improvements that are often only apparent in the details. This is the case with the new GMT-Master II, which retains the iconic GMT aesthetic but is very different.
The fact that it’s so different makes it so polarizing – you either like it or you don’t. Originally, the left watch crown did look awkward on the left wrist; somehow it didn’t feel right. But it doesn’t take long to get used to it, and it’s surprisingly cool. best quality watch replica
new reference. The 126710VTNR costs about $550 more than its counterpart with a traditionally positioned crown. According to Rolex, the price difference is not caused by the readjusted crown position, but a change in the testing equipment required to accommodate the new crown position.
destroy
Most notable is the crown at nine o’clock, complete with a repositioned date window. It’s ostensibly designed for lefties, but is sure to find some fans among righties who want something out of the ordinary. It’s interesting only because it’s so different from the rest of the brand’s offerings (although Rolex’s sister company has long had left-handed dive watches in its catalog).
Moving the crown to the left side of the case is actually a simple process. Requiring neither a new case nor a movement, the radical change involved repositioning the bracelet and dial. The new GMT-Master II is basically the same as the standard model and consists of all the same elements.
To match the crown, the new model has some other tweaks. It marks the return of the green GMT hand, which was last seen on the ref. 116710LN, the brand’s first watch with a Cerachrom bezel.
That said, the green hands are almost an afterthought considering the green and black two-tone bezel, a first for the brand. Like the “Pepsi” bezel insert, the green and black inserts are produced in two steps, first with a green ceramic insert, which is then dyed black half its circumference.
Like the other GMT-Master II steel models, the latest is available in two styles, a polished Oyster bracelet or a Jubilee bracelet.
