Patek Philippe’s History of Making Women’s Watches
Patek Philippe has a long history of making watches for women. In fact, the first watches registered in the Patek, Czapek & Cie’s (the company’s name) sales file were sold to Mrs. Goscinska in 1839. Watches in the form of delicate pendant watches worn by women had not yet appeared at that time. Queen Victoria saw the company’s innovative timepiece with a keyless winding system at the World’s Fair in London in 1851, and chose for herself a beautiful pink-blue pocket watch set with diamonds.
What’s more, the company’s first wristwatch (many remain the world’s first) was commissioned by Countess Koscewicz of Hungary in 1868. In 1916, Patek Philippe created the first complicated ladies’ watch with a five-minute striking function. It must be emphasized that this is the brand’s first watch with a striking mechanism – it was developed exclusively for women.
Since then, Patek Philippe has launched a large number of women’s watches. In addition to complications such as travel time, moon phase, annual calendar, etc., there are also women’s editions of Calatrava watches, Golden Ellipse watches, Nautilus watches, Aquanaut watches. However, just before the start of the new millennium, Patek Philippe created a collection exclusively for female clients.
Patek Philippe 24 Ladies Watch
When launched in 1999, the Patek Philippe Twenty-4 was an instant hit. Positioned for the modern woman, the Art Deco rectangular timepiece with its chain-link bracelet reflects the taste of the time. What’s more, its quartz movement is easy to maintain, and the entry-level price of the stainless steel version (Patek Philippe) makes this ladies’ luxury watch accessible to a wider audience. It was originally a watch that women wore all the time, whether at work, on weekends or at formal events.
Patek Philippe manufactures the Twenty-4 ladies watch in stainless steel and rose gold. The stainless steel Twenty-4 version (ref. 4910) is by far the more popular option and is available with a black, white, blue or grey dial. The Twenty-4 watch features a 25.1 x 30 mm rectangular case with a total of 36 diamonds set on the left and right sides of the dial.
The winding crown of the Twenty-4 is also set with black onyx. There are also ten diamond hour markers on the two-hand dial with VI and XII Roman numerals. While several Twenty-4 models (in rose gold) are available with leather straps, a metal link bracelet with a folding 0ver clasp adds to the streamlined silhouette of the Patek Philippe watch.
New Patek Philippe Twenty-4 Automatic
In 2018, Patek Philippe launched a new batch of Twenty-4 ladies’ watches to join the original version. While they may have similar names and belong to the same collection, these two versions of Patek Philippe’s flagship women’s watch are quite different.
The new Twenty-4 Automatic is not only powered by an automatic movement (Calibre 324 SC), but also features a 36mm round case, luminous Arabic numerals on the dial, three hands and a date window. Like the original Twenty-4, Patek Philippe has also produced new versions in stainless steel and rose gold, all of which feature 160 diamonds on the bezel. In addition, the new Twenty-4 Automatic watch follows the characteristic bracelet of the previous model and is also equipped with a metal link bracelet.
As you can imagine, the improvements that the latest Twenty-4 Automatic women’s replica watch Review have undergone have also greatly increased their prices – in fact, more than double the price of the simplest stainless steel version. Thankfully, the more affordable classic Twenty-4 option is still available.
