A new entry-level model with the simple appearance of earlier PAM watches.
For a long time, the formula of Panerai watches is very simple: solid watches inspired by the sea, Italian design, simple mechanisms and large cushion-shaped cases. Moreover, the relatively low price in the beginning helped to create a huge fan community. Then, things changed, Panerai became more complicated, more luxurious, and more focused on limited editions. But as the brand’s CEO told us, it’s time to clean up the collection and refocus on what Panerai really represents. The latest Panerai Luminor Blue Mare 44mm PAM01085 is exactly the case.
Simple and efficient design, manual winding, no date movement, serious packaging back to its origins, modern and cool appearance… Panerai Luminor Blue Mare 44 mm PAM01085 is a reassuring watch, but also An important collection of supplements. In fact, most of the watches launched as part of Digital Watches & Wonders 2020 are complex and relatively expensive models that use luminous and/or innovative materials. What we have here today is a simple but cool watch, a new core model with a more reasonable price and multiple functions that make it essential, in a good way.
The brand’s message is clear. The watch “reminiscent of the Luminor visual code of the 1990s in the clean, angular lines of the case.” This is not something we want to complain about. Although the recently launched products are cool and desirable, Panerai also needs core series styles with more affordable prices in order to attract new customers and focus on the local market, especially during these times of crisis.
The new Panerai Luminor Blue Mare uses a simple cushion-shaped stainless steel case with sharp edges and corners, a simple and smooth bezel and a polished surface. The size is quite impressive, with a diameter of 44 mm and a height of 13.05 mm, but this is part of the brand’s DNA. The side of the case adopts the iconic trademark safety lock crown protector made of brushed steel, and the bottom cover adopts pressure fit, twelve-sided, made of ordinary steel. All in all, a sturdy and clean package with 100m waterproof performance.
The new PAM01085 is equipped with a handsome blue satin dial, which interprets the brand’s traditional style without losing the retro-style gimmick. The numerals and hour markers are coated with green Super-LumiNova luminous coating. The display consists of three hands, including the classic small seconds at 9 o’clock. One advantage for many people is that there is no date window. Another nice design is the double-arrow “OP” logo printed at 6 o’clock-this is the stylized representation of Panerai’s initials dating back to the 1980s.
To power this fake Panerai Luminor Blue Mare 44mm movement, the brand relies on its entry-level manual winding movement P.6000 movement. Nevertheless, this is an internal engine produced by the Swiss Neuchatel brand, using a single-engine tube structure, but can provide 72 hours (or 3 days) of power reserve.
PAM01085 is worn on a blue calfskin strap that matches the dial with beige stitching. It is secured by a trapezoidal pin buckle made of brushed steel. The package also includes an extra blue rubber strap and a special screwdriver for changing the strap and removing the buckle.
