Audemars Piguet releases a new Royal Oak perpetual calendar, made of titanium
Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet is pleased to launch a new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar watch, made of grade 5 titanium. The new dial design is matched with the blue “Grande Tapisserie” pattern and the contrasting gray sub-dial, giving the watch a modern two-tone beauty. This timepiece will be exclusively available in the United States in September and will be available in limited quantities in other countries as of October.
Avant-garde and refined aesthetics
The bracelet and case of the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar are made of grade 5 titanium-an uncompromising fusion of high technology and traditional craftsmanship to the watch factory. This alloy is commonly used in aerospace, motor sports, and medical applications. It has high strength, light weight, non-magnetic and corrosion resistance.
Following the tradition of haute watchmaking, the ultra-light case and bracelet are hand-modified alternately with the manufacturer’s signature satin brushed and polished surfaces. This complex timepiece has a thickness of 9.5 mm and a slender shape.
The beauty of the titanium case and bracelet is also the complexity of its manufacture. This hard material is difficult to machine, making the milling cutter more prone to wear. In addition, the milling speed must be reduced to avoid any adverse thermal damage to the alloy, which requires longer machining times than parts made of steel or gold.
The titanium case uses a new two-tone dial, which combines the blue “Grande Tapisserie” pattern with a smooth gray sub-dial, which complements the hue of the case and bracelet, creating an elegant contrast and unique light and shadow effects.
Complex functions
This limited edition perpetual calendar watch is equipped with a self-winding 5134 calibre, which can automatically calculate the number of days in the month and display the current date correctly even in a leap year. Assuming that the watch remains fully wound and the date does not need to be manually corrected before 2100, it needs to be adjusted to be consistent with the Gregorian calendar. *
The sapphire caseback of the best replica watches uk shows the exquisite decoration of the movement, including “Côtes de Genève”, round grain, round satin and polished chamfers. The 22-carat gold openwork rotor is further decorated with the words “Paris Nail”.
